Modern Heritage, Woven for the World.
Founded in 2026, Kiondo.co.ke was born out of a shared passion for preserving the rich, tactile storytelling of East African artistry and bringing it into the modern home. Headquartered in the vibrant town of Wangige, Kenya, our platform serves as a cultural bridge, connecting the timeless craft of regional artisans with a global audience.
The platform was co-founded by Leon Keya, a seasoned technology expert dedicated to building seamless digital experiences, and Claudine Uwimana, a cultural visionary from Rwanda with a deep appreciation for regional heritage. Together, they recognized a gap in how East Africa’s finest traditional attire, handcrafted bags, pots, and artifacts were showcased to the world. By blending technology with authentic curation, they created a digital sanctuary for indigenous craftsmanship.
At Kiondo.co.ke, we don’t just source products; we collect heritage. Our dedicated team travels across various regions of Kenya and deep into East Africa—gathering uniquely preserved pieces, vibrant ladies’ and children’s attire, and striking pottery from Tanzania, Ethiopia, and Rwanda. Every handwoven bag, molded pot, and stitched garment tells the story of the artisan who made it.
Our purpose is simple: to honor traditional craftsmanship, support local artisan communities through fair trade, and market the soulful beauty of East African art and fashion to the entire world.
